Storage virtualization has come of age, offering Information Technology professionals powerful new ways to simplify infrastructure, streamline management, improve utilization, and reduce costs. In this work, we present StorPort-J, a multiplatform software that allows administrators to take advantage of idle storage space, of any size, on a computer. The StorPort-J is a Java implementation of the Internet Backplane Protocol (IBP), developed at LoCI (University of Tennessee), added supporting to network-attached storage (NAS) devices, easier software configuration and support to non ordered identifier resources management. The software also has a client-library which provides the minimum storage abstraction to the Logistical Networking.
